Piazza Management

Providing Wimbledon with its own unique performance area known as The Piazza, F&C Reit, owners of this versatile area of the town centre have been actively involved in Wimbledon Town Centre Management since its inception. F&C Reit is one of the major financial backers of Town Centre Management through their annual sponsorship and through the revenue generated for Town Centre through the commercial hire of the Piazza for our regular markets and performances that take place there.
Merton Chamber of Commerce

Were awarded the contract to run Town Centre Management in Wimbledon in 2003 and have been managing it ever since. Diana Sterck, CEO, sits on the WTCM and Going for Gold Board and is a driving force within the Going for Gold initiative. Over the next two years Wimbledon therefore has a one off opportunity to take advantage of what is good about the town centre and to address its weaknesses. The Wimbledon Going for Gold business led campaign aims to do precisely that. Led by business for business, many new initiatives are taking place to put Wimbledon on the map. Examples are the development of an Information Point in the Centre Court Shopping Centre, in order to promote our businesses and provide information on what's on in and around the town, and the Wimbledon Way - a walkway joining the station to the village to the All England Club and Tennis Museum, with the aim of showcasing our strengths and driving footfall between the town centre and the village. Other initiatives are already underway, including the annual Winter Wonderland event and fireworks on 26th November and a Sports Week during half term week in October.
None of this work will be achieved without commitment and finance. With £40,000 of funding already provided this year by the Council the business community has to respond to get involved and to contribute an equivalent amount. Please join the growing number of businesses who are getting involved to take this one off opportunity to secure the long term success of our town centre and adjacent areas.
London Borough of Merton
Merton Chamber of Commerce launched its campaign to put Wimbledon on the map well ahea
d of the 2012 Games, to create a state of the art destination with a thriving business community and vibrant leisure and cultural scene.Merton Council is investing £120,000 over three years to support the Going for Gold campaign which is to be matched by the Chamber. Merton is the only south London Olympic borough and there are huge opportunities in the run up to 2012 to build on its reputation as home of the world class sporting venue for the annual All England Lawn Tennis Championship.
The council is progressing a new initiative to enhance the quality of Merton's streets and open spaces through its Public Realm Strategy. £2 million of improvements have started throughout the borough to ensure Merton is a place that is attractive, competitive, safe and accessible. Part of the strategy will involve decluttering the street scene, removing unnecessary and redundant signage and installing high quality public information signs about places of interest in the borough.
The design of the signs will be consistent with those seen across London developed by Transport for London through its Legible London campaign. The council is also funding the improvement of shop fronts across the borough and investing £300,000 in Wimbledon town centre.
Merton Council cabinet member for regeneration Councillor Diane Neil Mills said: "The Olympics coming to Wimbledon is an amazing opportunity from which the whole borough will benefit. We want to make Wimbledon along with our other town centres a great destination where people from all over the world will want to come and stay and spend their leisure time. With the right planning and investment the contribution to our local economy will be a huge benefit to the borough's businesses and residents."
