Merton Council unveiled today (31 August) a fully renovated New Wimbledon Theatre, completing a two-month programme of works on the century-old theatre's facade.
The crowning glory of the 177,000 plus refurbishment is the statue of Laetitia, the Roman goddess of gaiety who stands 100 feet up over Wimbledon. Fully clothed in radiant gold leaf, she holds a laurel crown - a symbol of celebration.

New Wimbledon Theatre Presents, by arrangement with Max Clifford and Peter Elliott, A CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION. A once-in-a-century celebration of 100 years of entertainment, in aid of the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund and the Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust. Our ever-growing list of stars are all giving their services for this one very special night. Watch out for future announcements about our exciting line-up.
